XCS312 v3.0 Setting Notes
MDK 9-23-11

The DSP settings included in this folder provide three options for polar pattern control of the XCS312 loudspeaker. The three options are Cardioid, SuperCardioid and Dipole. Each setting provides a different polar characteristic which can be used to best fit your application. For all cardiod and dipole settings users should make sure there is adequate space between the loudspeakers and any refelctive boundaries.

The XCS312 Cardiod v3.0 settings provide improved cardiod performance over all previous XCS312 settings. The rear rejection is dramatically improved. This setting has maximum rejection at the rear of the loudspeaker with reducing rejection as you approach the front.

The XCS312 SuperCardioid v3.0 setting provides a polar pattern that has maximum rejection at roughly 45 degrees off the rear of the enclosure. This setting also allow slightly more output directly at the rear of the enclosure as per typical SuperCardioid polar patterns.

The XCS312 Dipole v3.0 settings provide a polar pattern that has maximum rejection on the sides of the loudspeaker. The rejection, as per the other settings, is axial and therefore this setting will work well to reject output at the top and bottom of the speakers.

The same front setting is used across all settings included in this folder. For additional information, please review the Cardioid Subwoofer Array Settings paper located on the EV website.
